Japan Festival Yunnan
The Japan Festival, launched in 2022 as part of the commemorative project for the 50th anniversary of the normalization of Japan-China diplomatic relations, aims to promote various cultural exchanges between Japan and China. To serve as a platform for people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, the festival focuses on supporting the Japanese community in China, deepening ties with the local community, and promoting Japanese culture.
Starting with Chongqing in 2021, the festival was held in Hainan, Shenyang, and Wuhan in 2022. This year, in 2023, which marks the 45th anniversary of the Japan-China Peace and Friendship Treaty, we will continue our efforts. The first event of the year will be held on February 11 (Saturday) to 12 (Sunday) at the Kunming Haile World Shopping Center in Kunming, Yunnan Province.
In addition to the stage performances, the event will feature a variety of activities for families to enjoy throughout the day. One of the highlights will be the “Nissan Dream Classroom,” an educational STEAM program focused on automobiles, which is highly popular among elementary school students in China. In the “Nissan Dream Classroom,” participants will learn about Nissan’s advanced automotive technology, deepening their understanding of Japan.
Furthermore, there will be a Japanese local government booth, organized by the Japan Local Government Center Beijing Office, where regions such as Kyushu, Gunma, Fukushima, Iwate, Shizuoka, Osaka, Kanagawa, and Nagano will showcase their distinctive local products and tourist attractions. Kirin Beer will also be available at the Kirin Beer Bar, allowing visitors to enjoy food and beverages while watching performances from both Japan and China.
As part of the event’s adaptation to the COVID era, thorough infection control measures will be implemented, and there will be online content connecting Japan and Yunnan, offering a virtual experience of the festival.
