Japan Festival: Celebrating 50 Years of Japan-China Diplomatic Relations

As we approach the 50th anniversary of Japan-China diplomatic normalization in 2022, we proudly launch Japan Festival as a grassroots exchange platform to introduce Japanese culture and facilitate bilateral cultural exchange.

Key Objectives:

  • Support Japanese expatriates in China
  • Strengthen community ties through cultural programming
  • Promote authentic Japanese traditions

2021-2022 Roadmap:

Launch City: Chongqing (December 2021)
Expansion Plans: Hainan, Nanjing, and Wuhan by end-2022

COVID-19 Adaptations:

Interactive hybrid format: Combining in-person events with live-streamed content from Japan
Safety-first model: Scalable for nationwide replication

Name: Japan Festival Chongqing (Chinese name: “日本嘉年华 重庆” / “Japan Carnival Chongqing”)
Dates: December 18 (Sat) and December 19 (Sun), 10:00–19:00 → Postponed from November 13–14
Venue: Shin Kong Place, 8F Event Hall ※ Free admission
Number of Booths: Approximately 25 booths + Nissan Dream Classroom (150㎡)
Expected Attendance: Around 40,000 visitors
